Job Description
- For the Prior Authorization team, the responsibilities include managing prescription authorizations, and collaborating with payors and providers as necessary to obtain approval for medications that require authorization.
- For the Patient Medication Assistance team, the responsibilities include understanding rules and criteria for free drug programs and how to enroll indigent (uninsured patients) into these free drug programs and collaborating with providers and pharmacy staff.”
- Manages prescription authorizations, collaborating with payors and providers to obtain approval for authorized medications
- Offer and make information available for free drug programs and enroll indigent (uninsured patients) into these free drug programs
- Collaborate with providers and pharmacy staff as needed
- Prepare prescriptions, pack supplies, and generate reports
- Conduct monthly unit inspections where medications are dispensed, stored, and
- administered. Identify and retrieves outdated supplies.
- Compliant with agency educational and licensure requirements
- Must have a valid Texas Driver’s license
- Certified Pharmacy Technician License through the Texas State Board of Pharmacy Technician
- Three (3) years related experience required in working in a pharmacy as a CPT
- Must be organized, possess a high degree of accuracy and must be personable
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel Familiarity with pharmacy law and medical terminology
