Payment Specialist [Hybrid]
$17/hr. |  Louisiana St.
Monday – Friday  8 am – 5 pm
Hybrid Role – Contract – No End Date
 
We are seeking a skilled, experienced Payment Specialist to assist a busy, non-profit organization in their Emergency Rental Assistance Program located near downtown Houston you will play a critical role in preparing and submitting payment requests, chargebacks, and reviewing Assistance Records by verifying banking information for the Harris County Emergency Rental Assistance program. The Payment Specialist is also responsible for following up on overpayments, reviewing, and updating Assistance Records; verifying banking Information with Landlords; coordinating, maintaining, and updating vendor information to ensure payments.

 Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reviews the weekly pledge analysis report, reviews cases with duplicate invoices, and cases with duplicate applications submitted, and prepares and submits the weekly finance pledge report
  • Tracks and resolves chargebacks/bank rejects / bank returns with landlords, and resubmits cases for payment 
  • Organizes and formats data to facilitate ease of analysis, and customizes reports and queries
  • Updates case status and assistance records in the database, including chargebacks
  • Updates landlord payment information, as well as completes landlord verification for cases 
 Required Skills/Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Related Certification (Data Analysis, Administration) preferred.
  • 1-3 years experience with data collection and analysis techniques.
  • 1-3 years experience with standard database architecture required
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Intermediate to high knowledge of Microsoft Excel 
  • Can successfully navigate a web-based database to create customizable reports, export data for manipulation and analysis
  • Advanced written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information in a safe, secure manner
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization
  • Must pass a 10-panel drug test and criminal background check
